Building on the natural benefits of martial arts for children, our local kids kung fu program at The Dragon Institute is a leadership development and character education system for youth - children and teens ages 4-15. We've designed our kids kung fu program to teach and reinforce core ethical values that transcend religious, political and socioeconomic differences.

In today's world, there are concerns with how our children are growing up and pressure our children face; different than the pressures that we faced when we grew up. Not only do today's children have to behave and get good grades, there's a constant peer pressure of drugs, violence, and bullying.

"The Dragon Institute's focus on character and leadership education along with their realistic approach to self-defense is exactly what I was looking for my 10-year old boy, Tyler. Plus, it makes me happy to see him enjoying kung fu so much." - Jeannine Reagan (Mission Viejo)

Martial Arts improve children's self esteem by the reward system
For children and teenagers, our progressive reward-based children's curriculum is one of the key ingredients to building self-esteem. When kids work to earn their next sash level, not only are they learning world-class self-defense and kung fu, they are building self-confidence and learning to feel good about themselves. Plus, unlike most other martial arts programs, our kung fu kids program has no fees for testing or advancement. We believe a student must earn their next level, not pay for it!

"...martial arts programs are more effective than other physical activities at reducing aggression and hostility and increasing self-esteem, self-control and self-confidence." (Source - Binder, Brad. "Psychosocial Benefits of Martial Arts: Myth or Reality? A Literature Review." 1999.)

Martial Arts will give your child confidence
Nothing can take the place of the security in knowing that your child can defend themselves should the need ever arise.  "People who continue to practice the martial arts for prolonged periods are different from the general populace in these ways: they have a lower level of anxiety; an increased sense of responsibility; they are less likely to be radical; they have an increased level of self-esteem; and they are more socially intelligent." (Source - Psychology Today, May 1985.)

"We are so thankful for the amazing foundation Naoh is getting at The Dragon Institute. More than that, we are thankful that you love, encourage and accept him just as he is! Thanks for everything," -Stephan and Brynn (Capistrano Beach)

Martial Arts can save your life
The instructors at The Dragon Institute have trained for many years to make sure everything we teach is reality based.  We've trained under some of the best martial artists in the world and are dedicated to staying on the cutting-edge of martial arts training - for ourselves and for our children!

Martial Arts are a lot of fun and channel aggression
We learned a long time ago that kids learn faster when they are having fun.  So we make sure to keep the atmosphere friendly. Kids have a great time meeting new friends while learning life-changing martial arts skills.
Children’s aggression are channeled away from bad outlets which is why many doctors have prescribed martial arts for kids because of the positive outlet it gives the children.
